Every good friend bet starts the same way. Someone says something confident in the group chat, someone else says "bet," and for about four minutes it's the most important thing in the world.
Then the thread moves on. By the time it matters, nobody can find the message, the terms have drifted, and the stake has gone from "loser buys breakfast" to "I never said that." Scrolling back through three weeks of memes to prove what someone typed is a bad way to spend an evening.
Betcha turns that "bet" into a card with the terms written down: what you're betting on, the stake, the deadline, and who's on the hook. It sits in the thread where everyone saw it happen.
How a bet works in Messages
Call it in the thread
Open Betcha from your iMessage apps, type the bet the way you'd say it, set the stake and the deadline, and send it.
They take it, counter or pass
Your friend taps the card. Once they accept, both stakes are held until the bet settles, so nobody has to chase anyone.
Call the result
At the deadline you both say who won. Agree and it's done. Disagree and a friend you both trust can judge it.
What your friends need
The card shows up in the thread for everyone, including friends who haven't installed Betcha yet. To take the other side, they need the app. It's free, and it runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18.5 or later.
Each bet is between two people. In a group chat you pick who's on the hook, and everyone else gets to watch it play out, which is honestly most of the fun.
If a bet ends up in a dispute, you can bring in a judge who isn't on Betcha at all. You send them a link from your own Messages app, and they read both sides and rule from the web without making an account. More on that in how to settle a bet with friends.
What you're actually staking
Pods. They're an in-app score with no cash value: you get some when you sign up and a free deposit each day you open the app, and you can't buy them or cash them out. The winner of a bet takes the pot, and the only thing that really changes hands is the head-to-head record between you and that friend.
There's no sportsbook, odds feed or live scores behind any of this, either. You can bet on anything you can put in a sentence: whether the 4pm gets moved again, who finishes the book first, whether Sam actually shows up to the gym on Monday.

Is there an iMessage betting app for Android?
Not yet. Betcha is iPhone and iPad only for now. If you want Android, email support@betchajalapeno.com and say so. We're counting.
Can I bet more than one person at once?
Every bet is one on one. If three people want the other side, that's three bets, and three separate records.
Does it cost anything?
No. The app is free and pods are free. There's nothing to buy.
